My perfect mother made (?!) this masterpiece of a dress for me to wear when I was in seventh grade, and designed it in such a way that it would expand horizontally as I grew laterally – so I could wear it later if I happened to be a freak in adulthood. What prescience! It cost her a hundred hours to sew and $100 in materials, but I won my school’s costume contest so it evened out in the end (I was awarded $10, which she lovingly let me keep.) The last time I visited home, I wanted to try it on again for old time’s sake… So our family walked around our wheatfield while my mother took these photos of me!
